165 Portable Programs Empty
PostSubject: 165 Portable Programs   165 Portable Programs EmptyMon Mar 02, 2009 8:55 pm

All 165 programs copy to your hard drive and work instantly
from there, no install is needed, no registry changes are made,
no reboot is required and anytime you don't want the program
anymore you can just delete it and delete the shortcut to it
on the start menu, thats it, you have "uninstalled" the program.

If you can stick to this and never install anything into Windows,
it will always run nice and fast and you never really "lose" anything
because you can just copy all 166 programs over again by running the
INSTALL script.

You must have Windows installed to your C drive
for the shortuts to link to the programs!

Also, the package will place ONE FOLDER onto your SYSTEMDRIVE
(usually C) and this one folder is called "TOOLKIT".

Check your systemdrive first, just in case you have a TOOLKIT
folder there already because it will be filled with folders
if a TOOLKIT folder exists already!

To get the package "installed" (although nothing will install
because it is a standalone package) all you have to do is double
click the "INSTALL.CMD" file or if you have file extensions
turned off in Windows, it will only say "INSTALL". Its the icon
with the little cog inside a DOS window!

If you want to, you can burn the entire contents of this "ROOT"
folder to a CD. You MUST MAKE SURE the files and folders are ON
the CD root - dont just burn this ROOT folder directly onto the CD!

You must burn the "~" folder and the other two files that are included
here for the packge to work (auto-install when you put the CD in) only the
"~" folder and the two files "AUTORUN" and "INSTALL" are needed.

None of these programs actually install - they only run
as "standalone" apps and are only copied to your SYSTEMDRIVE
from the CD, if you choose to burn a CD.

After burning the CD, please only insert the CD into a
computer running Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows
Server 2003. Some programs might not work on Windows 2000
or 2003. If you allow the CD to autorun you will
see the programs install automatically in a DOS command
window, this process may take some time depending on the
speed of your CD drive. The package has to copy over 360Mb
in all.

A single folder called TOOLKIT will end up on your SYSTEMDRIVE.

Look on on your Start Menu (only YOUR start menu, not all users)
for the item "STANDALONE" and there you can run any of the 166 programs
listed below. I have not listed all the version numbers for so many
programs, but all these apps are current, to 19.01.2006. Many apps are
"classic" tools that have never been updated since 2002/03/04 but we all
still love to use!

After ths package installs just check the versions yourself

If you want to "uninstall" any of these apps, just delete the
folder where the application is (only delete THE program folder)
and delete the same folder on your start menu and thats it, you
have "uninstalled" it! Just make sure you're not currently running
the program you are trying to delete!

Instead of digging through that TOOLKIT folder to find things, its
easier to right click the shortcut and click "the Find Target" button.
Then to remove, just delete the contents of that folder (and the folder
itself) and delete the shortcut on the start menu (the shortcut you just
found the target of!) and delete that shortcut, this is how to uninstall
any of these programs, they are never "installed" in the first place
and all run from your HDD instantly.

When using apps like Azuerus and Firefox/Opera they can leave behind
program settings in "Local Settings" and "Application Data" - hidden
folders, just have a look there after you delete Firefox/Opera/Azuerus.
You can just keep that stuff, because torrents and html favourites for
Firefox are stored there, be careful, backup if you delete these!

With Opera and Firefox you might not be able to save bookmarks.

You can always look in the "~" folder then the PROGRAMS folder
on the CD to just run any programs, without even copying them!

The PROGRAMS folder is not laid out the same way as the programs
end up on your start menu and it is advised that you run the
INSTALL.CMD script, then after the files have copied, you can
simply browse through all the programs on your start menu under
"STANDALONE".

If you want to make a CD but do not want it to autorun the CD,
then DELETE the file called "AUTORUN.INF" and this will remove
the auto installation when you put the CD in.

You only need the 'INSTALL' file and '~' folder on a CD.

This package is designed so even a complete idiot can use it

After installation of this package, all Program shortcuts end
up on your start menu under "Programs\STANDALONE"

Remember, you must have Windows installed to your C drive
for the shortuts to link to the programs! Also, the package
will place ONE FOLDER ONLY onto your SYSTEMDRIVE (usually C)
this one folder is called "TOOLKIT"

The aim is NOT to run these programs direct from the CD, although
you can try, some programs will not run in a read only environment.
